Other Israel Film Festival Expands The Mideast Debate
Written by: FFT Webmaster | September 28th, 2011
With the backdrop of a highly contentious and on-going tug of war between Israel and Palestine, the Other Israel Film Festival, now in its fifth year, brings a tone of civility and mutual admiration to a conflict often drowned out by partisan rhetoric. The Festival, running from November 10 to 17 in New York City, presents films by and about Arab citizens of Israel, as well as other minority populations in Israeli society. Since its establishment, the Festival has showcased the diversity of Israeli life with award-winning films and open discussions on the margins of Israeli society. This year, the Festival has introduced an online streaming platform (www.OtherIsraelOnDemand.org) that will make films dealing with the Festival themes available on demand to audiences throughout the country. The Opening Night Gala on November 10 is the NYC Premiere of DOLPHIN BOY, a documentary film by Dani Menkin & Yonatan Nir.
