Written by: FFT Webmaster | September 14th, 2011

TAKE SHELTER, a metaphysical drama directed by debut helmer Jeff Nichols, has won the grand prize at the 37th Deauville American Film Festival in France, which showcases a mix of Hollywood and American indie fare. The film stars Oscar nominee Michael Shannon as an Ohio construction worker who has begun to have alarming apocalyptic dreams which question his sanity. Jessica Chastain, this year’s “it girl” for her roles in such films as THE TREE OF LIFE, THE HELP and THE DEBT, co-stars as his bewildered wife. The film made its international debut at the Sundance Film Festival and won the top prize in the Cannes Critics Week section in May. The film is being presented this week at the Toronto International Film Festival prior to its release later this season via Sony Picture Classics.
