Shia La Beouf Project Making Waves In Cannes

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 16th, 2011

Among the buzziest titles at the Cannes Film Market (the parallel industry event that has attracted over 7000 industry professionals from around the world) is THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD, a Depression era drama to be directed by John Hillcoat, who adapted the big screen version of Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD last year. The film, which tells the tale of Southern bootleggers, will star Shia La Beouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Mia Wasikowska. A bidding war has ensued for the film being sold by Cassian Elwes of talent agency CAA. So far, the highest bid has been offered by Relativity Media, with The Weinstein Company, CBS Films and the new distribution shingle FilmDistrict hot on its trail.
