Yolanda Pividal, an independent documentary filmmaker, journalist, and TV producer from Spain, has been named as filmmaker-in-residence at the Jacob Burns Film Center’s Media Arts Lab in Westchester County, north of New York City. Pividal, a winner of three Emmy Awards for her television work, will spend the summer at the Lab and edit her first feature documentary film, FIGHTING KITES. In addition, she will teach a three-week educational course geared to local teenagers entitled Unscripted: Adventures In Non-Fiction. In the short course, the students will develop, create, direct, and edit a short documentary film. Students will learn about the craft of nonfiction filmmaking and visual storytelling, with their production experience enhanced by the study of the documentary genre through film screenings and clips presentations.
