Sundance Selects’ Cannes Buying Spree

Sundance Selects, a joint venture between the Sundance Institute and American distributor IFC Films, has added yet another title to its shopping spree at the just concluded Cannes Film Festival. It was announced that the company has all U.S. rights to French writer/director/actress Maiwenn’s POLISS, which screened in competition at the Festival. The hard-hitting film follows a group of individuals and officers working in and around a child protection unit in Paris. The film was produced by Alain Attal and co-written by actress Emmanuelle Bercot, who also co-stars in the film. In addition, Sundance Selects scored distribution rights to Australian director Julia Leigh’s erotic fantasy SLEEPING BEAUTY; award-winning Belgian directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s intense family drama THE KID WITH A BIKE; and French writer/director Bertrand Bonello’s HOUSE OF TOLERANCE. In addition, sister division IFC Midnight will distribute Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel’s psychological thriller SNOWTOWN.
