TRANSFORMERS Leads International Box Office

Written by: FFT Webmaster | July 13th, 2011

TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON is ruling the international box office for a second straight week, drawing $94.7 million in 58 holdover markets. The third film in the robo-series has already surpassed $400 million in just two weeks of release, making it the third highest grossing film of 2011 so far. If one adds in the domestic box office tally, the total worldwide sum for the film is over $670 million. In an interesting footnote, South Korea again was the stand-out market, with the film dominating more than half of the nation’s screens. Despite tepid reviews, the TRANSFORMERS franchise seems like a sure bet to spin off more robo-sequels in the coming decade.
