The Venice Days sidebar section of the Venice International Film Festival has announced that its opening film will be PINOCCHIO, directed by Enzo d’Alò and scripted by Umberto Marino with particular attention to the original fairy tale by Carlo Collodi. The opening will take place on August 30 in the Sala Darsena, straight after the screening of THE WOMEN’S TALES, an homage to feminine creativity in collaboration with French actress Miu Miu. The animated film is produced by Cometafilm, Iris Productions, Walking the Dog and 2D-3D Animation, in a co-production between Italy, France, Belgium and Luxembourg. “To open with an animated film, a work of Italian craftsmanship, seemed like the most beautiful way to pay homage to an extraordinary group of artists and to give the colors of fantasy to a program we wanted to be young, courageous, entertaining and iridescent,” explains Giorgio Gosetti, director of Venice Days.
