The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) has announced that Hungary’s most famous film director István Szabó will be the President of the International Jury at the next KVIFF, which takes place from July 1-9 in the famed mountain resort city located in the Czech Republic. “Nine years after having presented his film TAKING SIDES at the 37th KVIFF, Mr. Szabó will be back at the Festival. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have such a distinguished and legendary artist heading the Festival’s jury, ” said Karel Och, KVIFF’s Artistic Director. Szabo is the only Hungarian director to ever win the Oscar, for his Holocaust-era drama MEPHISTO in 1981.
