Jewish Themes At Tribeca FF

Written by: FFT Webmaster | April 27th, 2012

With one of the world’s largest and most diverse Jewish communities, there is always interest in New York in films that look at different dimensions of the Jewish experience. At this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, a diverse group of films have that Jewish feel. ALL IN is a stylish romantic comedy set in Buenos Aires’ Jewish community, directed by Daniel Burman. THE FLAT offers a compelling documentary uncovered when a son clears out the Tel Aviv flat of his grandmother. JOE PAPP IN FIVE ACTS offers a portrait of the theater impresario and his New York influences. ROOM 514 is a gritty Israeli procedural where an idealistic military investigator confronts an elite soldier with accusations of unnecessary violence against Palestinians. In YOSSI, celebrated director Eytan Fox revisits one of the characters in his award-winning drama YOSSI & JAGER, to reveal the anguish and ultimate liberation of a closeted gay man.
