Made In New York Awards

Written by: FFT Webmaster | June 10th, 2011

The Made in NY Awards were held earlier this week in New York City. The awards are given to individuals and institutions for “significant contributions” to the city’s entertainment and new media industries. Director Sidney Lumet, the quintessential New York filmmaker who died in April, was posthumously honored with the first-ever Made in NY Mayor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement, with the award accepted by the director’s daughter, screenwriter Jenny Lumet. Other evening winners included Stacey Spikes, CEO of MoviePass, and production firm Smuggler; NBCUniversal executive Lauren Zalaznick and actor/writer John Leguizamo, who just finished his one-man show on Broadway last week. Also honored was actor Matt Damon, who has made several films in the city, has opened up a production company in town and now calls New York home.
